Found the 'Eco-Brolly' while looking through some of the items that will be on display in London as part of Kithkin Presents. The pocket-size umbrella frame makes use of whatever materials are handy - everything from plastic bags to newspapers can be used for cover with this simple structure. Korean artist Duck-Bong Kang has created sculptures that look as though they are in motion by putting together multiple cuts of PVC pipe and then covering them in a thick shellac of urethane paint.

The figures in Kang's sculptures are an exploration of human relationships and communication. According to Kang, holes ignite curiosity within people because, regardless of age or gender, one always wonders what is on the other side of them. He believes that we should be just as curious about what is on another person's mind. In his opinion, the rise of social networks has decreased the amount of concrete personal conversation.

The holes also represent the void within ourselves that we helplessly try to fill. As he explains, "When we care too much about how we are seen through other people's eyes rather than focusing on who we really are, we start to feel a sense of self-betrayal. The existential void may lead us to cry out, with the weight of depression caused by this in-authenticity."

As you can see, Kang's work may seem like pieces of PVC pipes put together, but there is much more deeper meaning behind it. To view his pieces in person, visit Seoul, Korea through December 23rd where these sculptures will be displayed at the Gallery 4Walls as a part of his solo show, Disguise.

Introducing Samuel Cox's eSleeper, a hollowed-out eMac turned into a bed for his feline. Inside the shell is an Arduino Ethernet connected to an IR sensor, some LEDs and a sound shield. When the cat breaks the infrared beam it triggers the iconic Mac chime and turns on a series color-shifting LEDs for a little mood lighting. From there the clock starts ticking. When the cat decides she's had enough napping and leaves the white plastic cocoon, tripping the IR sensor again, a random phrase is tweeted, along with the length of the cat's siesta. Extremely colorful and foldable, the cover of German design magazine Novum was inspired by Richard Buckminster Fuller. Created by Hamburg-based agency Paperlux, the geometric cover allows readers to bend and fold the cover any way that they wish. The funky Factoria Joven (“youth factory”) skate park in Merida, Spain opened this past March. Since then, energetic teens have been biking, skating, climbing on and around the undulating curves and brightly-colored structures of the inviting and inventive complex, designed by Madrid-based SelgasCano Architects. The concept was first introduced in 2006 by Carlos Javier Rodríguez Jiménez, a physical education teacher who studied the humanization of urban spaces, and four collaborators. Architects José Selgas and Lucía Cano were inspired by the forms and construction of Chinese dragons, and specified inexpensive building materials, including lightweight polycarbonate. The building was completed in just 13 months.In addition to the outdoor features, the building houses a computer lab and a dance studio, as well as meeting rooms and spaces used for for street theater, video and electronic music, and even graffiti. We hope American urban planners and educators will see this and take note.

I had the most wonderful conversation with a dear friend last night, all about the hidden difficulties of relationships. Isn’t it funny that we only ever see two sides of relationships? Either the idealised version where a couple meets, falls in love and sail through a relationship with ease, or the bitter version where a couple meets, falls in love and then something goes amiss. In reality, though, I think there’s a lot of grey space. Don’t get me wrong, I think at core a relationship needs to be easy. You have to have fun together, enjoy each other’s company, and get through 3 and a half of the 4 weeks of every month happy. But inevitably, issues will arise that need dealing with. And this is what we don’t often see in fictional relationships. Each person is so different, so vastly different, that it sometimes seems as if we’re walking around speaking our own languages. Relationships take work not because the other person has different opinions and beliefs, but because we have to try and understand them, to try and see the world from someone else’s point of view. The person you love might be interpreting a situation in an entirely opposite way to you, and it’s up to you to try and understand their interpretation. I also think that we’re all riding little emotional rollercoasters. When we’re up and happy we feel independent, when we’re down we’d like a little more attention from the ones we love. Sometimes we feel feisty, sometimes affectionate, sometimes fun, sometimes thoughtful or forgetful. It’s called being human, and it’s quite beautiful. At heart, I think what I’m trying to say here is that relationships take work, but it’s sacred work. It’s the kind of work that makes life what it is, a challenging, heartfelt, sometimes crazy thing to be in...

The c/dock has been designed to solve two problems: 1) using your iPhone as an alarm clock and 2) the need to charge your iPhone overnight. Made from a piece of solid walnut wood with either a brushed aluminum or glossy resin face plate, the c/dock is your new alarm clock. The line of wallpapers designed by Barbara Hulanicki is right up our Art Nouveau-loving alley. I have a soft-spot for those curvy, organic swirls. I can't decide which design I like better. Good morning everyone, and happy Valentine’s Day! Since today is all about celebrating loved ones and soaking up warm, fuzzy feelings, I thought I’d start things off with something else that makes you feel warm — fireplaces. While I’m usually someone who prefers more traditional, worn-in fireplaces, this dramatic “Magma” fireplace from Flying Cavalries’ Fireplaces in the UK is just fantastic. Inspired by volcanoes, the Magma fireplace has a layered design that reminds me of those beautiful sea-floor maps you used to see at marine science museums growing up. My favorite part of this modern fireplace is that the table itself can act as a functional coffee table when the smokeless, ethanol fire unit is not in use.

This is one craft I will LEAF to the pros, hehe, ok, bad jokes aside. These carved leaves (leafs?) are incredible! There’s some DIY instructions, although, step 4 is “carve the leaf”… oh, ok, no problem. The carving of the leaf is simply removing the surface without cutting or removing the veins. I would recommend not drinking too much coffee before attempting this.

Although they’ve been marketed predominantly toward the senior population, simple cell phones can seem pretty appealing for even the most overt technophile. There is already an overload of inputs, and mental bandwidth can easily be maxed-out within a few minutes of waking, especially if your smart phone is also your alarm (as is mine). The moment I’m finished pressing snooze, I find myself checking voicemails, texts, emails, weather updates and sports scores, only seconds after the fluttering of my eyelids. Trick is a bookcase designed by Sakura Adachi for Campeggi that turns into a table with two chairs. When both sides of the bookcase are moved from the original position, they function as chairs; what remains in the middle works as a table. The table can be used as a table to have dinner as well as a desk to write, read and work on your computer. It’s a nice space-saving design!

Jonathan Yuen is an extremely talented and multi-disciplinary graphic designer. His portfolio website is full of incredible imagery. The use of audio and animation makes his work stand out from average portfolios. He has been officially put into my top 10. I love all of the black and white illustrations, and the way everything is connected through a meandering ground line.

The navigation is a little confusing at first, but worth the expended brain power. Poetic in its style, this one is sure to satisfy many of you Trubliss Chic readers :)

For these reasons I, Jai, give this a two thumbs up.

This project is about concealing valuables, secrets, bad habits and personal information in our workplaces. Here, hidden spaces/ messages were created within 8 general objects such as wood boards, lamps and disposable coffee cups. Wonderful!

This is probably the prettiest bike storage I've ever seen - Knife & Saw's Bike Shelf. While visiting many friends small apartments in various cities, I noticed that there is a void when it comes to elegant bike management. Bikes always get in the way – either in the hall, leaning up against a wall, in the kitchen and so on. So, I found something that someone actually designed to fix that problem.

I totally want this nested knife set. Designed by Mia Schmallenbach for Deglon, the Meeting Knife Set consists of a paring knife, carving knife, chef’s knife, and a filleting knife. The proportions were determined by the Fibonacci sequence. Fair warning - these knives are crazily expensive (I'm not sure who can afford them), but they sure are pretty to look at :)

This is a beautiful home in Costa Rica with a sure flair that makes a tacit reference to the Eames case study house. There is a vast amount of glass and steel, but it still manages to keep it warm with the introduction of indoor/outdoor reflection pools. Natural cross ventilation, high luminosity and more exciting yet, the use of a rain water collection system that feeds the swimming pools and the reflection ones inside the house. Be still my heart... For these reasons I, Jai, give this 4 stars

Beating the winter cold...

These days it's beginning to get incredibly cold to play outside. Winter not being my best season...I never got a chance to learn how to ski or snowboard. Even worse I have never been.. sledding. Silly right? Building snowmans, making snow angels or snow forts were more my specialty. So to beat the outdoors' bitter cold as well as one of my one...I am using what little of creativity I can scrounge up and making an indoor fort. Yup, now join me and send me a picture of your creation :)

Especially since I wouldn't mind being in Japan right now, this amazing furoshiki {a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth} by Lucinda Newton-Dunn feels pretty perfect today. I LOVE how it serves so many functions and remains beautiful in every form.
